In areas like the Latrobe Valley in Victoria, home to some of our country’s dirtiest coal-fired power stations, children suffer from higher rates of asthma, adults suffer higher rates of lung cancer, and more people are dying well before their time.

Right now, state governments are letting coal-fired power stations pump out as much as 20 times more toxic air pollution than many other countries allow, even though there are pollution controls available that could save lives.

It doesn’t have to be this way. With the simple stroke of a pen, state governments could put a stop to this.
